Evidenced Based Medicine and Health Technology
Needs Assessment:
Pending Healthcare reform has placed a focus on Evidenced Based Medicine and the use of Health Technology. CMS and Federal Program reimbursement will be tied to achieving certain levels of Health Technology and will drive the use of hierarchies to determine best practices and guidelines. What constitutes evidence based medicine under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and how comparative effectiveness research plays into the role of new evidence and guidelines development constitutes a major step forward but poses many new challenges. A program that provides an overview of evidence based medicine, health technology assessment, their divergent objectives and ability to provide synergistic information flow would be of great utility to all health care practitioners.
