Healthcare Reform Implications for Practitioners and Health Policy
Needs Assessment:
Healthcare reform is on the forefront of news and public health policy. With the nationwide discussion of health management of the uninsured, the lift of lifetime benefit caps, and the elimination of preexisting conditions there is much for consideration amongst all caregivers and policy makers. Pharmacists, nurses and physicians will all undergo major practice challenges. The bill’s complexities leave a broad opportunity for education and application of the proposed law. A program that provides caregiver specific opportunities and health policy implications with disease specific examples would be of great utility to all health care practitioners and health policy makers.
Learning Objectives:
Following completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Examine the utilization of health policy modeling to predict population impact at the state and national level.
Differentiate the pre and post world of healthcare reform for practitioners and policy makers.
Describe the opportunities in the Medicare population to lead with innovation and improved patient outcomes
Understand the dispersion of geographic costs and implications for regional, state and national program expenditures.
