Maria V. Gibson, MD, PhD
Dr. Gibson graduated Siberian Medical University, Russia with MD degree and PhD in Medicine. After her residency at Duke University Medical Center and additional faculty development training at Medical University of South Carolina practices as an Associate Professor at the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. She started an ADA recognized Diabetes Self Management education program in 2005 at MUSC where she serves as a Medical Director.
Dr. Gibson has
- More than 20 years of physician and executive experience;
- Is a speaker on topics of CV diseases, practice management and coding guidelines;
- Practices full scope of Family Practice, including prenatal care, in-and outpatient Medicine;
- Is a Director of Practice Management curriculum at Trident/MUSC Family Medicine residency program
- Has a special focus on chronic diseases management and pay for performance
- Is an NCQA and ADA Diabetes Physician Recognition award recipient , as well as NCQA and AHA/ASA the Heart/Stroke Physician Recognition Program award recipient
