Anita C. Murcko, MD, FACP

Anita C. Murcko, MD, FACP, joined the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Arizona’s single Medicaid Agency, in 2005 as the Medical Director for Healthcare Group of Arizona (HCG), the State-sponsored health coverage program for small business. In May 2007,
Dr. Murcko joined AHCCCS’ Transformation Grant team as Medical Director of Clinical Informatics and Provider Adoption. An award–winning speaker, adjunct professor and author, Dr. Murcko enjoys sharing her insights with lay and professional audiences on many topics ranging from clinical medicine and prevention to health policy, quality improvement and technology adoption.

Dr. Murcko was Chief Medical Officer for Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG), where she served from 2000-2005, leading several nationally-recognized collaborative efforts, including the Arizona Diabetes Initiative and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-sponsored Arizona State Diabetes Collaborative, designed to improve care delivery, quality and access. Dr. Murcko completed her undergraduate and medical studies at the University of Pittsburgh, PA, her Internal Medicine
residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine. In addition to her current administrative duties, she maintains a limited primary care internal medicine practice, Partners in Medicine, with her husband Mark Wallace, MD.
