Biosketch
Gary M. Oderda, Pharm.D., M.P.H.
Gary Oderda was born and raised in northern California area. He received his Pharm.D. degree from the University of California at San Francisco in 1972 and completed an Internship and Residency in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California Hospital in 1973. Additional education was received at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health where he received a Masters in Public Health in 1982.
After serving as a faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and Director of the Maryland Poison Center, Dr. Oderda moved to the University of Utah where he served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Practice from 1991 to 1998. On January 1, 1999 Dr. Oderda began a sabbatical from the University of Utah and started as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Health Care Management at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation in East Hanover, New Jersey. He was active in a variety of Outcomes Research and Disease Management projects. He returned to the University of Utah on January 1, 2000 where he currently is a Professor and Director of the University of Utah Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research Center. He is active in research efforts related to Outcomes, Pharmacoeconomics, and drug use in Medicaid.
