Dr. White is a Vice President at Analysis Group, Inc. in Boston, MA. Dr. White specializes in the application of statistics, econometrics and microeconomics to litigation and general business problems. He has provided quantitative economic analyses in antitrust, intellectual property and complex business litigation. His analyses have spanned a variety of industries including pharmaceutical, computer hardware and software, vitamins and genetically modified seeds. Select antitrust work has covered the estimation of damages as a result of price-fixing behavior by a vitamin producer, the quantification of but-for prices of PC hardware arising from an alleged patent infringement, the calculation of price trends for PC software products, and an analysis of the economic factors relevant to class certification in the markets for genetically modified seeds and prepackaged software. His work in the pharmaceutical industry has included an assessment of damages arising from an alleged illegal delay of generic drug entry, rebuttal damages analyses arising from allegations of false advertising, and damages assessment arising from allegations of lack of full disclosure of the side effects of a prescription drug. He has also provided a quantitative assessment of the impact of an alleged delay in reporting/updating of Average Wholesale Prices for reimbursement purposes.
His health economics work has focused on the assessment of the treatment patterns and direct medical and indirect (work loss) costs to employers of employees with chronic medical conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, and opioid abuse. He has estimated the societal costs of opioid abuse as well as developed models for assessing the cost savings to third party payors of introducing drugs with abuse-resistant properties.
Dr. White’s research and publications have focused on economic measurement, with emphasis on the theory and practice of consumer and producer price indexes and the calculation of quality-adjusted price indexes. His work at Statistics Canada consisted of independent research into sources of mismeasurement in the Canadian consumer price index. His publications in health outcomes research have focused on the costs associated with various conditions such as prescription drug abuse, cancer, low back pain, and osteoarthritis. Dr. White holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of British Columbia, and a B.A. and M.Litt in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Dublin, Trinity College in Ireland.
